Located between the Laurentides and the Mauricie, north of Laval and Montréal, Lanaudière has a population of over 492,000 inhabitants. Terrebonne, Repentigny and Mascouche, the most densely populated cities, are highly urbanized.

Well-known for its fertile farming plains, Lanaudière is in the mildest climatic zone of the province.
