History

History of RE/MAX

The RE/MAX name is synonymous with excellence in real estate. Our brokers provide a premium level of service to their clients thanks to their standout experience and expertise.

A Global Brand

Founded in March 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger in Denver, Colorado, the RE/MAX name comes from the abbreviation of Real Estate MAXimum. RE/MAX is a network of independent and self-employed franchisees active in close to 110 countries and comprising more than 140,000 brokers.

From its beginnings, the RE/MAX network has grown exponentially. By offering a revolutionary business model, the network has attracted the most talented brokers. This innovative, sound, and powerful concept has completely transformed the real estate industry.

In 1978, the company adopted the hot air balloon as its official logo, a remarkable brand image symbolizing RE/MAX’s amazing ascension in the real estate sector. Still today, the RE/MAX hot air balloon is a strong and distinctive brand image!

A Quebec Network

Mr. Pierre Titley introduced RE/MAX to Quebec in 1981. As soon as the first office opened in May 1982, RE/MAX expanded rapidly, to such an extent that the brand is one of Quebec’s greatest corporate successes. This achievement is still today one of the most notable in the real estate industry!

Today, there are RE/MAX agencies present across the province. They bring together the industry’s most successful brokers focused on their clients’ interests. In Quebec, the RE/MAX network accounts for more than 30% of the province’s real estate brokers and has a 43% market share.

In addition to being a real estate leader, RE/MAX is involved in the community, notably as Opération Enfant Soleil’s primary partner from the time of its very first telethon in 1987.

Since then, RE/MAX has donated more than 27 million dollars in support of sick children.

For RE/MAX, Opération Enfant Soleil is more than philanthropy, it is our commitment to a cause that is dear to us.
